YOUTH MINISTRY: Our Parish is planning a trip to New Orleans this summer to help with recovery work from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. We need parish youth, 16 and over, to serve on a planning committee to help advise on matters such as fundraising, outreach, etc. If you would like to serve on this committee please e-mail Patrick Donahue: pdonahue333@msn.com for further details. This is a wonderful opportunity to start building a resume! Youth ministry thrives on adult support.

YOUTH MUSIC MINISTRY: We are looking for youth musicians and singers to help us form a youth music ministry. If you play an instrument (guitar, drums, keyboards, etc) we invite you to become involved. WHY CATHOLIC? It is still not too late to sign-up to be a participant in the “Why Catholic?”. Jesus gave us the example of how to pray. He also reminds us of the value of communal prayer as he exercised in the synagogue and Temple services and liturgies. Jesus invites us to pray deeply and silently pondering the Word of God to understand God’s ways for our life’s journey. Come join a Small Community Faith Sharing Group to learn ways of listening to God in prayer. The topics for the first six sessions are: What is Prayer; Prayer in the Old Testament; Jesus and Mary Teach us to Pray; Forms of Prayer; The Sources and Way of Prayer and Guides for Prayer. CAPE VINCENT ROSARY & ALTAR SOCIETY MEETING Wednesday, Feb. 3^rd at 10:00 am at the home of Jeanne Thompson on the River Road.

CAPE VINCENT ALTAR & ROSARY SOCIETY is planning to hold a garage sale at the Church Hall in June when the Town Wide Sales are planned. Donations of clean, unbroken and in good condition would be appreciated. No clothes accepted. Start putting items aside and as the date gets closer items can be left at the church hall or be picked up.

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS: Praise be to you, God and Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for our Eternal High Priest, Jesus, your Son, and for the share all your holy people have in His Priesthood through Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. During this Year for Priests, we praise you especially for those configured to your Son as Head and Shepherd of His Church through the sacrament of Holy Orders. Conform them to the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, so their priestly hearts beat in unison with His Most Sacred Heart. Increase their number, confirm their faith, intensify their zeal. Renew our love for them. Keep them close to the Mother of your Son. We pray, in union with St. John Vianney, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

STAINED GLASS WINDOWS in Cape Vincent and Rosiere: The cost of renovation for one window is $5,000. Would you, your family or your organization consider making a gift in that amount ‘in Honor of” or ‘in Memory of” ? Names will be inscribed on a plaque to be displayed on the window sill. Please talk to Father Aubin if interested. Already a member of the Peugnet family paid for a window (facing the altar, window on the left of the altar rail in Cape Vincent). Also, another family is considering getting all their members to contribute to the renovation of a window. In that case and similar cases a special parish bank account could be opened; money donated by members of a family or organization would be deposited until the total of $5,000 is reached.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS: Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

TODAY we rejoice and celebrate World Day for Consecrated Life. Over the years, many men and women have chosen to live out their baptismal vocation by professing the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience. They do this by joining a religious congregation, a secular institute, or through private vows. We pray for these people and ask God to bless our Church with others who will dedicate their lives to God’s service.

WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE-CONCEPTION: Hello, I am one of God’s little ones, a new person. My life started at my conception on January 22, 2009. From that first moment, God chose all the characteristics that make me one of His unique creations like: my eye color, my height, the color of my skin, my hair color and my gender. He is good and holy and has a special plan for my life. Please pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe for my mom and me. “You formed my inmost being; You knit me in my mother’s womb. I praise You, so wonderfully You made me, wonderful are Your works!” (Psalm 139:13-16).

THE “ecumenical dinner” that was to take place last Sunday at St. Vincent of Paul Parish Center has been postponed.

PARISH TRUSTEES: Fr. Aubin has reappointed Cheryl Gauthier and appointed Paul Docteur for trustees. Paul replaces Art Montondo. Trustees normally serve for no more than two one-year consecutive terms. Our gratitude to Art Montondo who gracefully served during the last two years.

RELIGIOUS LITERATURE: We have books, magazines and pamphlets in back of our churches. Please help yourself. They are free!

WEEKDAY 8:30 am MASS: Have you considered attending, especially during lent? In Cape Vincent, mass is at the rectory, a wonderful opportunity to share in prayer and friendship. Normally, unless no priest is available, mass in on Monday and Thursdays in Chaumont and on Tuesdays and Fridays in Cape Vincent. If no priest is available Sister Anne or a commissioned lay minister presides over the Liturgy of the Word with Holy Communion.
